In vivo Expression Services
The four main In vivo expression systems used by PEF are:
-
Bacteria
-
Yeast
-
Insect cell/Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS)
-
Mammalian
Each system has advantages and disadvantages with respect to its capabilities in recombinant protein expression. The figure below is a rough guide on the advantages/disadvantages of each system.

High-Throughput Capabilities
HTP cloning and expression is available for use in all systems. The pOPIN vector series allows recombinant protein expression in three systems simultaneously, namely bacteria, insect cell and mammalian. Users can also choose from a range of standard vectors for expression in a single system. Ordering of HTP services can be done through the HTP Online Shop.
Large-Scale Expression
PEF offers large-scale expression in bacteria, yeast, insect and mammalian cell systems. Culture volumes from 400 mL to 10 L are available in shake flasks and from 1 to 4 L in a bioreactor.
Training
PEF offers training of staff and students in all aspects of recombinant protein production. If you would like to enquire about training in any of the In vivo expression systems offered by PEF, please contact us.
